At Burning Man this year, hoopers are in for something bigger and better than ever before. SpinCycle, easily the most visible theme camp for hoopers on the playa in recent years, is planning on taking things to a whole new level with the building of Caledonia, a 40-foot-high egg-shaped lookout tower surrounded by an 8,000 square foot dance floor that will be the home of this year’s most amazing hoop jams, as well as a hooper offering to the entire Burning Man community, right next to Center Camp. Designed by architectRich Porter, one of SpinCycle camp’s organizers who practiced architecture for 5 years before leaving the field to pursue hooping full-time, Caledonia promises to be amazing providing all of the funding is raised for it’s completion.
